Somali FA completes first Beach soccer tournament

The Somali football federation (SFF’s) has taken another step towards returning to a full football eco-system and developing the game throughout the country with the completion last weekend of its inaugural beach soccer tournament.

The competition follows the recent Futsal Championship, the start of women’s football and holding Super Cup Match outside the capital Mogadishu for the first time in Somalia’s history.

President of the SFF, Ali Abdi Mohamed, said: “I am very privileged to recognize the Beach Soccer Department’s hard work and I emphasize the importance of teamwork in achieving successful events.”

Abdi Mohamed had pre-tournament said that the tournament would not just begin beach soccer in the country but further develop the game in all its forms.

The eight team tournament was won by the Hiil Beach soccer team who beat Balambaalis Team 7-5.
