Flamengo hit the jackpot with Betano
Rio de Janeiro club Flamengo have announced the largest title sponsorship in Brazilian football by signing a three-year contract with betting operator Betano.
Flamengo will reportedly receive R$268.5 million (€42.2 million), including bonuses, per season. On Monday, the club wrote in a statement: “The agreement covers professional football, Olympic sports, including volleyball, basketball and women’s football, as well as Flamengo TV, reinforcing the brand’s presence across different areas of the club.”
“This is the largest partnership agreement in Brazilian football, a result of the strength of the Flamengo brand and the global relevance of Betano.”
Flamengo said the new contract with Betano is subject to approval by the club’s board. The club analysed proposals from seven different betting operators. Sportingbet, Superbet and Betano all offered more than R$200 million (31.5 million euros).
The news comes days after Flamengo terminated their deal with Flabet, a platform operated by club sponsor Pixbet. The platform was controversial because it pushed regulatory boundaries and left the perception that the club themselves were running a gambling enterprise. This year, the deal between Flamengo and Pixbet was worth a reported R$115 million (18 million euros).
Betano have not sponsored a Brazilian club since 2024 when they terminated sponsorships with Atlético-MG and Fluminense. The betting operator, however, is the title sponsor of three CBF competitions: the Brasileirão Série A, Copa do Brasil and Supercopa.
